Obedience Classes and New Breeds

When our husky pup started chewing everything, ignoring me when she was called and nipping at our son, my husband and I decided to try obedience school.  Since he quite often was on call in the evenings, it as decided that I would be the one going to the classes and learning what we needed to learn. I really enjoyed the classes and one of the unexpected benefits was that I was introduced to some great breeds I had never seen or heard of before.

One of the dogs I fell in love with was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  A smallish dog, the one in class was just so cute!  I had seen Corgis on TV, but never in person.Another breed I had never heard of before was the Rhodesian Ridgeback.  My husky fell in love with the Ridgeback in class, which was understandable.  He was a very regal looking dog.  And very well behaved, despite the fact he was in obedience school. Once the classes were over, we even arranged some puppy play dates.  I’m glad that my girl is now behaving and it was nice to see some breeds that I wasn’t previously familiar with.

Corgis are cute, but they can be yappy and desctructive. Definitely take them to obedience classes.

I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback once. He was a pretty good dog once he was trained, but until then he was a handful. A big, strong working dog like a Ridgeback needs training more than the little breeds.
