There is also some chance that people reading these blogs will click through the links and come to your site that way.
Another thing that SEO companies are starting to do is to offer blog commenting services. This means that their writers will go to blogs that are related to the topic that you write about. They will leave comments on those blogs with links back to your site. This helps to increase your credibility in the industry and to drive additional traffic to your site. In this way, blogs and blog comments supplement the other work that the company is doing.

Interesting concept, I had never really though about all this before but it does make sense. The more traffic, the more credibility, and the more credibility the more traffic to your site!
