Yoga and Pregnancy

Yoga is a really great form of exercise for pregnant women. It helps to relieve stress for both mind and body. It gives you a way to center yourself during pregnancy. And it can even help you get more in touch with your body and therefore more in touch with your unborn baby.
Here are some tips for doing yoga while pregnant:
- Make sure that you attend a class with a yoga teacher who understands yoga for pregnancy. Many of the positions that you do in a normal class must be adjusted for pregnancy. Your teacher has to know how to do this to keep you and your baby safe.
- Wear appropriate clothing. Don’t just wear whatever you’ve always worn to work out since it may be too restricting for your pregnant body. There is a lot of great maternity wear that is created specifically for yoga during pregnancy.
- Listen to your body. It is super important that you pay attention to your body’s needs during this time. Don’t hesitate to rest often during class if you need to.
- Try restorative yoga. This is a type of yoga that involves a lot of resting. It may be the best type of yoga for pregnancy.
Yoga is great for pregnancy. Just be smart about it!
