Why I Use a Florida PPO

When you go to get health insurance in West Palm Beach (or pretty much anywhere else for that matter) you have the basic option of choosing between an HMO and a PPO. When I went to get medical insurance in Florida, I went with a PPO. There are many reasons for choosing a PPO instead of an HMO but the reason that I chose this route has to do with my personal issues.

You see, I don’t mind admitting that I’m a little bit of a control freak. I don’t like being told what to do. I like having a lot of options for everything and being able to make a decision on my own about which of those options is the one that I want to choose. Since a PPO gives you your choice of doctors, I feel like I have more control over my medical situation with a PPO than I would with an HMO.

There are definitely benefits to using an HMO. I think there are probably even a lot of choices that you can make within the structure of an HMO. However, I like the way that the PPO lets me easily choose doctors that aren’t within a specific network. That works best for me and it’s the reason I went with a PPO.

I like the option of a PPO as well. Sometimes you come to find out that not all doctors are equal. If I stuck with an HMO, there is a chance a certain condition of mine would not have gotten cured as quickly last year. I like choices.

There isn’t anything wrong with being a control freak in certain situations. This happens to be one that you SHOULD be a control freak in. Your health is too important.
