Sleep Machines to the Rescue

Sleep apnea is a treatable condition and with doctors guidance is easily managed with a regime of sleep aids called CPAP supplies. There are a variety of these machines on the market and with different shapes, sizes and levels of effectiveness every sleep disorder patient should be able to find what he or she needs to get a restful night of sleep.

CPAP machines are designed to provide continuous positive airflow pressure to the recipient thus keeping the airways open and ensuring the airway does not collapse during sleep. A mask is hooked to the machine and worn over the nose to keep the throat from collapsing.  The machines are available in a variety of sizes, some industrial size and others so small they are hardly visible on the nightstand next to your bed.

Bipap is a breathing machine which provides two levels of positive airflow pressure to the recipient. This machine helps to push air to the lungs, changing pressure as the patient inhales and exhales.  As a result, the patient gets more oxygen by holding the airways open. This machine is adjustable and is commonly recommended to patients with more severe obstructive sleep apneas or central sleep apneas. Bipap machines come in a variety of size and can use battery power as well as electrical power.
