I have worked for the same company for 5 years. For another 5 years before that, I was in the same business but with a different company. I know the ropes all too well and pretty well run the show around here. I can’t go into any specific details because the owner where I work doesn’t know this yet, but I am going to leave and open up my own business.

I have already started jumping through the hoops too. I have acquired both my legal name and DBA from the Florida Division of Corporations. I have negotiated my commercial lease for the site that I’ll be at. I even have a few key players here that I am going to take with me who realize they need to keep the whole thing quite too. I am still waiting for my business license approval from the city though.

One big bridge that I still have to cross is getting my own Fl health insurance though. I currently have Florida group health insurance through my employer, but that will obviously go away. So far all of the Ft. Lauderdale health insurance companies that I have researched are expensive, but it is not out of reach. I just don’t want to be without that important coverage, and a seamless transition would be nice.
