I never use Tanning Lotion myself because I am naturally a golden brown even at my whitest, thanks to my half-Hawaiian heritage. I go out in the sun and I never burn, I just turn this offensive (apparently to my white friends) beautiful brown. Meanwhile they are applying sunscreen and Tanning Lotions trying to achieve the same effect. I tell them I can’t help being beautiful. They just scowl at me and keep applying the sunscreen.

I am glad to have the skin complexion I have, being half white and half brown. It has proven to be very useful throughout my life. Even though no one ever guesses Hawaiian when they are trying to figure out “what I am”, it is always either Mexican or Native American since I live in Arizona, it has been great because I get all the social advantages of being “white” without the fear of being white amongst minority groups who are enjoying a collective culture of brownness. I can fit in from Ohio to New Zealand to Thailand, and at first glance you wouldn’t know I wasn’t a native anywhere I go. It’ is truly an awesome gift to have and one I hope to pass on to my kids!
