Hire someone to translate your site for you. If you’re going to translate your existing site into different languages then you need to make sure that it translates in a manner that is SEO-friendly. Hire someone with SEO knowledge to translate the site properly for you. It’s worth the investment because you’ll get the best results this way.

Can a Blog Make You Money?

Recently I was discussing with a couple of my colleagues whether putting ads on a blog can actually make you any money. While they haven’t had much luck with it themselves, I make $100 every three or four months with my blogs. It’s not much, but figure I would be blogging with or without it, so why not leave the ads in place and get a little extra cash for my trouble?

So the answer is, yes, a blog can make you some money — but most likely it’s only going to be pin money at first. Growing a blog that makes a ton of money in ad revenue takes a lot of time, dedication, and patience.

Probably the best way to make money via your blog is to choose a niche topic that will get you a lot of traffic. You’ll get more traffic the closer you are to the top of the list, so choosing a niche that doesn’t already have a lot of blogs or websites out there is the best idea — at least from a business standpoint. Also, you’ll want to choose a topic that has a lot of people searching on it.

In other words, lots of searches plus not a lot of information available means the most traffic for you.

You also might need to think about web hosting, as some free blog platforms — such as WordPress — may restrict your ability to put ads on the site unless you have your own domain. You don’t need anything fancy — a basic shared hosting plan ought to do it.

In short, blogging is a lot of work, and ad revenue won’t be much to speak of at first. I think it’s important to note that unless you have a really strong business idea, you are most likely better off simply blogging for yourself, and viewing the ad revenue you get as a bonus.

Shopping Online Is the Way to Go

Even though there is no pushing an online shopping cart around the store like the good old days, I still get such a great feeling from filling up that shopping cart with all the purchases I am about to make. It is so easy to shop online thanks to the great ecommerce software that is out there. Now I can get whatever I need online and I can stay at home with my young son and help him with his homework while also doing something for myself, or even doing the errands for the house.

For my older son, we bought his Halloween costume this year right online and were able to save a lot of time by not having to drive all over town looking for the one he wanted, then having to try to find one that actually fit him, but we were also able to save a lot of money too.

I think online purchases are a thing of the present and the future, which is only starting to look brighter and brighter. Having to cart the kids around and buckle up car seats and hear the ever present “Mom are we there yet” or “I want to go home” is a thing of the past. No more dings in the car from the old wire shopping carts, or aggravation from having to stand in a line to check out. I love it.

Stumbling Around The Internet

I spend a lot of time on the Internet. I’m a huge fan of blogs and I have an extensive RSS feed to keep track of all of the ones that I read. I am also a big fan of the social networking sites like Digg and Mixx. So it was really no surprise that I got interested in StumbleUpon, another one of the social networking sites.

What was interesting was that it turns out that I like this one better than all of the others.

StumbleUpon is a really cool site that allows you to add a toolbar to your browser. The toolbar has a button on it that says "stumble" which will take you to a random web page that has been submitted to the site. You’d be amazed at how many different things I’ve learned about from "stumbling".

For example, I recently stumbled across a site about airsoft, something I knew nothing about. It got me curious. StumbleUpon lets you search specific keywords if you want to so I entered airsoft and found out even more. I learned about kwa guns and echo1 airsoft strategies and all kinds of stuff.

There are a lot of great social networking sites out there but I’ve never had as much fun on most of them as I have on Stumble!

Online Users Are Defining Important News

It has been assumed that the majority of teens do not follow the news. However research has found that around 50 percent of teenagers get their news from online news sources. However they don’t do this daily – they only do this on a weekly basis! So teens do in fact care about news…its just that they don’t care about it enough to check it out every day. Of those that get their news online almost 66% rely on non-traditional channels such as news aggregators to consume their news.

Just as the web and search engines means that users and not marketing departments determine the marketing message - the same thing occurs in news where users and not traditional newspapers and journalists decide what news items are important.

Nowadays you will find that online sites of traditional newspapers include social attributes such as ‘most e-mailed’ or ‘most popular’ stories to their online news. This allows an avenue for the acceptance of user defined news into traditional media forms.
