The university diploma frame I had received back in 1991 was made to withstand the tests of time with how it looked.  As I am about to graduate with my advanced degree, I wanted to make sure that my next diploma frame would also stand the test of time with the quality and look of the frame.  I specifically looked at the local framing store for the frame that I wanted.  It had to be made of a durable wood and not have anything too modern about it.  My goal was to make it look somewhat like my current diploma frame.

I finally found what I was looking for after about an hour of looking for the right frame.  It was a nice old oak with raised paneling on it.  It was big enough that it would hold my diploma quite nicely.  What I liked about this framing store is that I could get a matte to match the color of my college.  In particular, I was looking for a deep red, like a scarlet to highlight my diploma and tie back to the colors of my university, which are scarlet and grey. Thankfully this was an easy thing to do.

We called around to several self storage facilities in our area and found out that quite a few of them required that you sign a year long lease.  We knew that we weren’t going to need to have the stuff in storage for that long, so we really didn’t want to rent out a space for a year.  Finally we got lucky and found a place that allowed you to rent out their storage units on a monthly basis, which was perfect for our situation. 

The facility also sold moving supplies such as boxes and packing tape, meaning that we were able to kill two birds with one stone by renting the unit and getting what we needed to move our things in one stop.

The have helped us locate a new building, as well as get it furnished and set-up.  Furthermore, they have helped to re-evaluate our processes for improved strategies with regards to forecasting and scheduling.  We worked with an inside sales staff to review our current processes and establish a new plan of action.  The sales consulting has helped us to re-establish our company goals and keep our perspective during all of these changes.

It was unexpected when we found ourselves in a position to leave our building but after having met with the consultants we are excited to have a fresh start.  Our business will be operating at its best due to this unforeseen change and we are looking forward to it.

My three kids go to a very safe school and we are able to leave our car out overnight, and we never have to worry about whether the house is safe at night or the times during the day or night when we are away. I am so confident about my new security system, we can even plan long vacations away from the house and I know that everything will be all right. It is such a comfort and brings so much peace of mind to know things like this, that you and your family are being kept as safe as you ever were, especially when you move to a new place.

I got an idea of what I was getting myself into on this trip about 15 minutes before our arrival at the auto accessories center.  It was not just a shop, like the place where Mike worked.  It was like the Disney World of auto accessories stores.  We could see the sign and the light emitting from the building from miles away.

The store itself was nothing short of what I expected from the sign.  It was like one giant chrome accessories section.  Not in that everything was chrome, but every thing was shiny-from the chrome to the paint and even the tires.  It was overwhelming, yet intriguing.  I can see why a lot of guys love auto shopping.  We are naturally wired to love certain things, like barbequing, red buttons that say, “DO NOT PRESS,” and shiny things.

Mike was so overwhelmed that not only did he get the Hella fog lights, but he got them in a chrome setting, bought Catch All floor mats, cheesy seat covers and a matching steering wheel cover. 

We had to do extra painting jobs to make up for that little spree, but the El Camino was complete.

Choosing a college was a lot of hard work, but the clincher to choose this college came because of the way they went out of their way to reach out to me.  Every year at the beginning of the college admissions season, colleges embark on mailing services programs, sending out mailers to would-be students in the area in a bid to drive up admissions. My case was no different. I counted at least half a dozen mailers that I received from colleges in my area and beyond.  However, what stood out was the way my college took the trouble to reach out to me.  Their mailer had been beautifully designed and astonishingly enough had a personalized web landing page designed especially for me.  I was asked to visit my page and see more details of the college for myself.  I did visit the web page, and by the time I finished reading the page, I felt like I was a part of their family!   I was convinced that this was the college to join!

Would I have still chosen this college if they had no one to one marketing programs that made me feel like such an important part of their student fraternity even though I had not yet taken admission?  I don’t know.  But I hope I would have chosen them even then, because now I can’t imagine myself at any other college!
